The Serpentine Gorge Trailhead is the official start point of Section 8. The trailhead is located at the main car park area and consists of a trail information board only. The facilities are scattered between the car park area and the trail shelter which is about 600m north east of the carpark. The actual gorge is located about 800m north of the car park which can be accessed easily by foot. The new large sheltered trailhead was built in 2013. The shelter can only be used by Larapinta Trail hikers. |

Getting to Serpentine Gorge Trailhead |

The Serpentine Gorge Trailhead is approx 100km west of Alice Springs and can be accessed via the sealed Larapinta & Namatjira Drives. Access from the Namatjira Road to the car park is via a 5km rocky dirt track. The trailhead information board is located at the car park. The trail shelter and campsite is located approx 600m north east of the car park. |
